The film chronicles the devastating 2022 floods that struck Australia's Northern Rivers region, highlighting the extraordinary resilience and solidarity of the affected communities.
Through first-hand accounts and never-before-seen footage, Washed Away captures the harrowing experiences of individuals who faced the unprecedented disaster. The documentary showcases the selfless acts of everyday Australians, including surfing champion Mick Fanning, who played pivotal roles in rescue and relief efforts. Complemented by a poignant soundtrack featuring iconic Australian artists such as Silverchair, Goanna, Pete Murray, Tex Perkins, and Noiseworks, Washed Away offers an unflinching look at the disaster's impact while celebrating the indomitable spirit of those who rose to meet it.
